Here’s Ronnie Weston of Yorktown, his key opened the lock on the Arlo Shed. Nearly four grand in prizes including this beautiful Dura Shed, Toro Recycler Mower, Stihl Trimmer, and Honda Generator. Special thanks to the crew at Land & Coates, and all the Fox listeners that stopped in to make it such a special day.

With all the cool power equipment at Land & Coates this little guy was the hit of the day. I’m sure you have seen the auto vacuum cleaners for your home and pool, well the “Lawn Bott” is the same principle except it cuts the grass. Built in sensors allow it to mow your entire yard on auto-pilot, but only on clear days its special moisture sensors send it back to its little  “dog house/charging station if it detects any raindrops. It is so cute as I bent down to pet it I couldn’t help but think “George Jetson would be proud”.  :- )

Today we give away the shed!

April 22nd, 2010 | By mikearlo-wafx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

The last few months we’ve visited the Land & Coates locations around Hampton Roads and given away keys to open the “Arlo Shed”. Today we’ll give away the final key and one lucky winner will unlock the shed. Around 2 o’clock one of our listeners will win an 8’x 10’ Duro Shed, recycler mower from Toro,  trimmer from Stihl, and a sweet generator from Honda. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.I’ll be doing a full show remote broadcast from the brand new Land & Coates at 830 Poplar Hall Dr. in Norfolk (right around the corner from my favorite Costco). Sunny skies, power tools, and listeners stopping by all day it just doesn’t get any better. Pop in if you can, and if you want to score the 4 grand worth of prizes remember you DO have to be present to win for this one. Se ya there!!!

Everything was thumbs up at Driver’s World!

April 18th, 2010 | By mikearlo-wafx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Thanks to everyone that stopped by Driver’s World today, the place was poppin’. An old friend that I grew up with in Aragona Village came in; it was great to see you Larry!  I made some new friends as well, a lot of you signed up for the one year membership at the Zoo and a ton of folks drove home in a different vehicle than they arrived in. It turns out the G.M. Rick Wilson p1010226(above) is an old fan of the Dr. Madblood Show, and we did a good bit of  reminiscing in between customers. The day went by so quickly, guess that old saying is true “Time flies when you’re having fun”. :- )

Another Sunday…more random thoughts

April 18th, 2010 | By mikearlo-wafx in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Looking forward to visiting with our friends at Drivers World this afternoon, and if you’re in Va. Beach stop by. It’s just off the Rosemont exit. Our sign-up is for a one year membership for the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. By the way if you haven’t been to the Zoo lately you are in for a treat cause it ain’t your father’s Zoo. :- )

Spring has sprung!!!!! I was heading north on Rt.17 just outside of Saluda the other day enjoying the gorgeous colors. Dark green of the evergreens and the bright green of the new leaves, thinking what beautiful country we live in when a Bald Eagle flew over the roadway….WOW. :- )

If it stops raining long enough the “Cup” boys will be running in Texas. The best part of qualifying was the surprise pole winner Tony Stewart. He grabbed the front row for the first time since Oct.2005. The wing is off the cars & the spoiler has returned lets hope it doesn’t bring back the dreaded “aero-push”. I’ve kinda gotten used to multiple race leaders and passing at the finish. I think we’ll see the teams that adjust well on the fly do well, and a few will just hit the lucky set up for a green track. Of course several will just plain not be able to get a handle on it & smack the wall. All in all it should be an exciting race. Good luck with your picks in the Fantasy Racing game!

The rest of the house is slowly getting back to normal, but having a full functioning kitchen for the first time since mid-November is just amazing. Special thanks to Jeff Corey at Faithful Home Improvements, and Willie Leng’s incredible crew at Wolf Cabinets. Soon the details on why this process has taken longer than building an entire new house. Right now Lauren & I have a lot of drawers, and shelves to fill. :- )

The cedar paneling above the cabinets had just been removed when this shot was taken.
